A portion of a branching artery from rodent eye stained to reveal the elaborate cytoarchitecture of filamentous actin (green fluorescence) in the endothelial cells. These cells ensheath the arteries and help modulate blood flow by constriction and relaxation. Some residual erythrocytes (red blood cells) that were not completely removed by vascular perfusion can be seen inside (red fluorescence).
