Micro-trans-SPEC handheld spectrometer
AMETEK, the business unit of ORTEC, has introduced the Micro-trans-SPEC, ultra
hand-held gamma spectroscopy instrument that features enhanced display,
communications, data storage, and analysis capabilities. Weighing 15 pounds,
the Micro-trans-SPEC is the lightest, liquid nitrogen−free, portable,
high-purity germanium gamma spectroscopy system on the market, according to
the company. The instrument provides a complete spectrometer in a single
easy to handle package and offers a dramatic reduction in size (20%) and
weight (34%) than previous versions of the Trans-SPEC with no loss in
