Abstract Confirmation of pluripotency is a critical experimental step when studying human embryonic and/or induced pluripotent stem cells. To ensure consistency between studies, it is important to verify the maintenance of undifferentiated cells in culture. This can be accomplished by functionally assessing the ability of pluripotent stem cells to differentiate toward ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm lineages.
