Nanoparticle delivery platform silences genes and fights cancer in mice

A novel nanoplatform has been developed that acts as a nanoparticle-based vehicle for the delivery of siRNAs to mRNAs, which silences cancer promoting genes in mice. This slows the growth rate of breast cancer tumors and increases the longevity of the mice.   The nanoparticle delivery platforms are made up of porous metal-organic nanoparticles coated in a platelet membrane layer and loaded with synthetic siRNAs.
