An introduction to new approach methodologies

Written by Beatrice Bowlby (Digital Editor)

Using traditional animal models, drug development can take 10–15 years and cost more than US$2 billion per approved drug, with over 90% of drugs that succeed in animal tests failing in human trials. Clearly, we need a better approach.

In this introductory video, learn about how new approach methodologies, or NAMs, are aligning therapeutics development with the 3Rs principle of animal models (replacement, reduction and refinement) and, in doing so, offering greater human relevance.
