Peek behind the paper: A high-quality fungal genome assembly resolved from a sample accidentally contaminated by multiple taxa

Janneke Aylward is a research fellow affiliated with the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute at the University of Pretoria and the Stellenbosch University (both in South Africa) researching fungi that affect plant health and is currently working on a group of species that are important to the forestry sector. Aylward uses genetic resources to survey populations and study adaptations, at both the population and individual level, in her studies.   Here, Aylward provides insight into her paper published recently in BioTechniques, about filtering contaminated genome sequences by combining two programs, BlobToolKit and anvi’o, and her advice on best practice for using this method.  Please provide a short summary of your paper This paper provides...
