Judging a lobster by its tail

Physical size of a lobster is often used to determine age. But with an estimated life span of nearly 70 years and a speedy rate of molting, physical size is not an adequate measure of age. Identifying age of lobsters in a population is a key factor for keeping the commercial species alive. A new study is focused on finding a valid solution. Will DNA be the answer to keeping lobster on our plates as well as in our oceans?
